how to repair a popping floor ,glue-down,or floating PART 1
repairing floor using a syringe ( veterinary ) and water-based glue ,diluted – 1 shot of water per 16 0z. all wood floors need expansion gap to expand , check if there is at least 1/4 inch between walls and floor
I did it like you showed , and it really works
Where do you get a syringe like that? I could only find cheap plastic ones at Home Depot. Ideally, I’d like to find one with a squeeze trigger, like a caulking gun. Thanks!
try e-bay , or amazon , and this type here I put it in caulk gun , needs to have the metal wings
@doktorstolat Thanks, that’s a good idea. I’m surprised anyone can live with a thumb trigger, unless the glue is really thin.
one of the best videos on youtube. no wood floor installer that I called locally knew how to do this, but I am doin myself now thanks to this vid
May be they knew it but didn’t wanna do that. No body wants customer to get away with cheap and easy fix with such little effort. Their best solution would be to rip everything apart and then rebuild it
Have you ever had any problems with natural solid hardwood (maple) flooring when using regular watered down carpenters’ glue? I have heard that the seasonal expansion effects can cause a problem (like floor cupping, splitting, etc) unless the glue used is some sort of polymer / urethane product.
no problems , usually this is working fine
but in some cases the floor must be removed
all depends what is the problem
and all wood floors need room to shrink and expand
I’m so glad I found this video. Thanks for posting it…you are a legend!!!
I have been thinking about this method but every single ‘expert’ out there reckon the floorboard has to be removed! I guess they don’t want use to do it this way.
